Maybe you can help
WoW. The feed back in this post from all sides has been fantastic, honest, open and polite, good to see :) For those that don't know I have a huge amount of Mossms (300+) in a large open plan environment, I always get a buzz from the people walking through and hearing the shock and awe from them at the same time, seeing these little amazing creatures doing on mass what they do best is the most amazing coding I have even seen in SL and I know why those people are in shock :) I am not a big seller either, I am one of the few that does it for the fun, but I do sell if people want something and I do have a few of what I call doubles out in the market only because I don't want 2 or 3 Moonstars with the samecolors, marking etc in my collection :P Now after saying all that I ask those people that come and even return as to why they are not doing it yet and the same answers always come up, "the cost involved" food, land and prim. Feeding what I have is a drain on my L's yes, but darn they are so worth it, with what I have read in here today even more so. Lots of people don't have the L's to keep a good amount for breeding, to get variety, lots of people don't have the land to set up and to grow, but all in all what is out there now and with what's to come all I can say people is STICK with it and to the Mossms Team, a BIG TY for giving us all a fun, fantastic and awesome creature to enjoy.
Tula and Leigh -- Its a holiday weekend here in the states so my online time is limited but I did want to take a moment to say thanks to both of you for posting your thoughts. We appreciate you and are pleased to have you in our community! <3
Everyone has such excellent feedback! From my perspective, it would be VERY helpful to be introducing traits and other random oddities to the pool more often. I love Mossms and I'm sticking with them! But now the next big thing in pathfinding breedables has hit the market. To keep people interested the product has to stay relevant and the trouble with the "new kid on the block" is that the food is cheaper and it seems that a new trait (or several!) is found every few days. I think there is still something really great about Mossms, but the secondary market has become almost non-existent :( I have been working with breedables since 2007 (with an old avatar) in SL. The thing that keeps me going is variety! Good luck Mossms friends; we can't wait to see what you have to bring us (just hurry up!!! lol) :)
Asymmetrical, did you say your reinvention was going to include simplification of the breeding system? I thought it was pretty simple as it is. Maybe making it too easy for everyone to breed what they need without the need for buying from secondary market.
I think the key to your reinvention will be the ability to add traits to the mossms. Every breedable I have done was about traits, and with horses, it was about how many traits, which at 21 now is getting ridiculous on the other side of the coin. Getting to max traits on the Mossms is simply too quick.
I hope whatever you reinvent, it is hugely successful. It is apparent that you and your team have put much creative effort and real sweat into the mossms. I hope you can make them everlastingly successful.
You might think about giving anyone who cryo'd most of their mossms a free cryo each back when you reinvent as a reward for coming back to mossms.

Cilia
Kat - Thanks for taking the time to provide your thoughts. We appreciate it. You raise some interesting points. Competition will always be out there and we have to be at the top of our game. Right now, our business model is wrong for this market though, so we need to start there. We love these little guys though and are certain we can turn it around and then get back to making it fun, interesting, engaging and unique.
Cilia - You and I have talked many times and you were one of the few who really understood the breeding system. Others tell us they understand but when we look at their breeding histories its clear they really don't. Confidence in the system is really important. In fact, it was the first thing that caused the secondary market to drop. The players didn't want to buy a pretty Mossm because they didn't feel confident that they had a real chance of getting something out of it. Of course it usually didn't pan out for them if they did buy one on the secondary market. If you look at how people were breeding you can see why it didn't work out. But that's really here nor there. No matter how easy your or I think it was to understand the greater player base did not and as a result they have no confidence in the system. No confidence reduced the values of the Mossms on the secondary market .
The good news is, we don't have to make it "easier" to get something. We have to make it so that the players are confident. So the simplification won't necessarily make it easy to get a moonstar but it will make it so that the player knows and feels confident that what he/she is doing is the correct way to get one.
I'm still enjoying them .. but have put most of mine in pods for now and waiting again a bit. Breeding when I can.
I am looking forward to the gaming part next.
I still have several locations set up to sell them and all iIwanted back really on sells was food money mostly to keep feeding them ..the most I ever got for a mossy was 3K at an auction ..and as a way to give back I have given free mossys to random people and have even "hid" free ones here 1x a week here and there at times ..IN plain site to give away lol and most miss them.. but it's always nice when someone finds them. I really had never done much with the breed things ,in the past I tired the kitty cats and they got to be a pain quick..and now I'm fooling around a bit learning about and learning the ins and outs of something that you can battle with and I am really liking it though I wasn't sure I 'd like it ..and it makes me REALLY looking forward more to be able to do what ever the mossm may be able to do next. all in all though they will have what funds I can dig up to do them that is a sure thing ..if they are as fun as I think they will be _ in the mean time I'll breed when I can and hope i get the ONE I really reallllllly want before then.

all mine are podded now.. seems best thing to do ..have over 200+ some are still for sell others just stashed... waiting for a new dawn on the planet and letting them have a bit of a vacation from working =D
Any more news about progress or about what is going on now?
Greetings Rob

Hi all!
I am probably one of those that post here in the forums very rarely, but I do keep and eye on it often :) I must admit that I am not one of the people keeping the secondary market going. But like so many of you have stated, the mossms are a different type of breedable, and I agree, and that is maybe why I wanted to really challenge myself with this breedable. So every mossm I have I have bred myself without going to the secondary market for some new blood. And that is the challenge I have set for myself. I know this do not help out the secondary market much but I have been in breedables for over two years now, and I have seen the secondary market going to an almost stand still in almost all of them, which is very frustrating. You go out and buy rather then try to breed them yourself and you end up with a lot of big expenses on them. The mossms are the funniest breedables I have seen so far and they put a smile on my face each day just by watching them, so i decided I would make them fun to breed rather than stressful, so for me it doesn't matter the time it will take for me to get all the nice ones other people have had for quite some time, I am having a lot of fun breeding them, With each mating hoping to get a colour/blend combo I have never gotten before. I really do not hope too much will be changed with the revamp of things though, I love the mossms because they look so cute, and because they are so funny to watch. If they would suddenly look a whole lot different or act a whole lot different I am not sure how I will respond to that. As far as I can tell, the mossm team is an awesome bunch of people that is always there when needed!
