As I seem to be discovering great care needs to be taken when selecting your pairs for breeding, chasing the rare coat using the same good mossms will get you into trouble lol, I now have some mossms that are unable to breed with over half of my other mossms,not only do the genetics go back to the great grandparent but it also goes down the cousin route too to second cousin i think, I'm hoping Asymmetrical will pop into this thread and run through the linage for me to see how far back it goes with cousins, but all that said I LOVE it the breeding will be a challenge, finally a breedable that with all its other great assets will be a challenge

When you look on the breeding screen, it shows ancestors going back 2 generations. It won't let you breed if there are any common ancestors going back two generations. A few times (more than twice!) I've looked at the wikipedia article on cousins to try to come up with an educated and concise way of expressing this, but have given up each time. :)

Sometimes you need fresh blood to breed. That's part of the challenge, and that's handled either with more starter kits, trading mossms with other people in a similar situation, or buying and selling.

I think trading our Mossms is an awesome idea too. RL Animal Husbandry used to mean you would rent someone's bull from the next town and let it run around with your 10 cows for the summer. Stud fees! Awesome! Kudos for putting some reality checks into the breeding process.

At this stage, do you feel ok with trading with someone else? Does it feel too restrictive, or does it feel about right? Another possibility that I've done in that situation is breed up another separate, fresh bloodline from scratch-- essentially forming my own separate player to trade with.

I would love trading! Especially during the beta... How do we get in touch with other players willing to trade as well?
